CPD SEMINAR N0. 2/2010: 12 MAY 2010
Mr Andrew Baird presented a paper on the role of the QS under the NEC-contract on Wednesday morning 12 May 2010. The early-morning breakfast seminar was well attended and members were given an overview of the Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC or better known by the brand name of NEC). This contract is widely used by institutions such as Sasol and Escom.
After the meeting, the possibility of forming a NEC-working group or forum under the auspices of the ASAQS was discussed by the Director of ASAQS with Mr. Baird. Quantity Surveyors interested in joining such a forum or working group can send their names to the Director of ASAQS, Mr. Egon Wortmann.
Below, are some of the photos Tjaart took during the event.

RECOMMENDED STUDENT REMUNERATION: 2010
The Gauteng Chapter Committee has determined the following recommended scale of remuneration for students for 2010. The scale is, for the time being, based on the 3 year BSc and 2 year BSc (Honours) curriculum of the University of Pretoria. A section for students at a University of Technology has also been added for 2010. This is based on students working full-time in their second year and part-time during their B-Tech year.
