VIRUS ALERT

The past two weeks have seen the rampant spread of the W32.Kletz e-mail virus in South Africa.
W32.Klez.H@mm is a modified variant of the worm W32.Klez.E@mm. This variant is capable of spreading by e-mail and network shares. It is also capable of infecting files. This worm searches the Windows address book, the ICQ database, and local files for e-mail addresses. The worm sends an email message to these addresses with itself as an attachment.

Because this worm uses a randomly chosen address that it finds on an infected computer as the "From:" address, numerous cases have been reported in which users of uninfected computers received complaints that they sent an infected message to someone else.

Removal tool
Symantec has provided a tool to remove infections of all known variants of W32.Klez and W32.ElKern. Click here to obtain the tool.
This is the easiest way to remove these threats and should be tried first.

Go Wireless
Wireless technology has become a standard part of life for millions of people. Where would we be without our TV remotes, keyless entry systems, and cell phones? Consequently, commercial facilities have also been affected. What were once classrooms, boardrooms, and meeting rooms now must be high-tech multi-media centers equipped to accommodate the latest presentation equipment. For most organizations, this means retrofitting a room that wasn’t initially designed for the current purpose.

ASAQS NEWS

Risk transfer
WE ARE living in an age of ‘risk transfer’, with most companies laying off as much risk as possible. Construction companies are no exception. Payment being the principal reward for commercial enterprise, contractors lay off the risk of non-payment by their clients to subcontractors. Whilst few subcontractors, when given a free hand, would be willing to accept this type of risk — they often have little option if they are to secure work. Clauses are frequently drafted into contracts aimed at achieving this end, referred to as ‘Pay when Paid’ clauses. When a contractor is not being paid by the client, subcontractors often provide good reasons why, despite the wording of the pay-when-paid clause; they are still entitled to reimbursement.

Did you hear?

A couple of short ones:

Why go abroad for a holiday at great expense, when you can stay at home and have a free trip around the sun everyday !

Life is like a fortnights holiday - the lst week is finding things out and then enjoying yourself, and towards the end of the 2nd week you wish you hadn't frittered all your money away in the lst week.

My name is Mrs. Smith and I've come to collect my holiday currency."
"Ah yes, what denomination ?"
"Church of England".

Mothers of teenagers know why animals eat their young.

Don't expect praise too soon, even a mosquito doesn't get a pat on the back until he's nearly completed his task.

You don't know the meaning of true happiness until you get married - then of course, it's too late!
