Mr Deon Vermeulen (left), President of the ASAQS, announces that UKZN will be reinstating the BScPropDev leading to the Honours in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying in 2014.

This announcement was made during the Board meeting taking place in Cape Town today, 19 June 2013.

The ASAQS received the good news from Prof. Cristina Trois, Dean and Head of the School of Engineering at the University of kwaZulu-Natal yesterday afternoon.

In her message Prof. Trois says: " ...it is my pleasure to inform you that the BScPropDev leading to the Honours in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying will be re-instated at UKZN in 2014 – for the intake of 100 1st year students.

This is as a result of the generous support of Sonja Pilusa in her position as CEO of the CETA. The CETA has committed to supporting the programme for the next five years, along with a candidacy programme that will be established during 2014.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support. We have started the process of appointing academic staff members and we look forward to continuing to collaborate with you all."

Board members of the ASAQS conferred with the UKZN during the ICEC congress in Durban last year and have actively lobbied for the reinstatement of a degree in quantity surveying at the university since then.
