Chapter Chairpersons meet in Midrand

The inaugural Chapter Chair Meeting.was held at the offices of the ASAQS on 10 February 2016.

Mr Bert van den Heever, President of the ASAQS presented the Chapter Chairpersons with Certificates in Recognition of the hard work that they put in on behalf of the Association.Seated from the left are: Louis Ferreira (Northern Cape), Tina van der Merwe (Limpopo), Larry Feinberg, Bert van den Heever, Karl Trusler and Christelle Bown (Eastern Cape). Karl Trusler did a presentation on the vision for EduTech and updated them on progress made thus far, Chris de Wet presented them with his findings regarding marketing of the profession. He explained that research was conducted among quantity surveyors in professional practice as well as those in construction, finance, etc. A marketing strategy meeting is scheduled for 23 February 2015. Chapter Chairs also had the opportunity to meet Jan de Beer, our media consultant and were urged to report any interesting projects that may be happening in their chapters to Jan or Larry.

After lunch further discussions took place during which insights and ideas were exchanged. Larry wrote a short thank-you note this morning in which he said that: "....Through our discussion yesterday we also hope that we have provided you with some insight into the key initiatives that HO will be taking with the exciting EduTech portfolio and marketing QS’s and our profession during 2016. Further and equally important we feel that the forum provided an ideal setting to discuss matters of importance affecting our profession and regions as a whole."

It is envisioned that Chapter Chairs should meet in Midrand at least twice a year and the logistics of this will be discussed at the upcoming Board Meeting on the 15th March as many Chapter Chairs also serve on the Board.
