MEET THE PAST-PRESIDENT OF ASAQS FOR 1998/1999

DR. SOLLY PRELLER IS :

• Past-president of the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors 1998 / 1999
• a Registered Quantity Surveyor and Managing Director of Schoombie Hartmann, Quantity Surveyors, an international firm of Registered Quantity Surveyors with fourteen branch offices in South Africa and elsewhere
• Director of companies and chairman of numerous boards of directors of organisations holding extensive business and commercial interests throughout South Africa
• Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

He is a member of:

• South African Council for Quantity Surveyors (alternate)
• Board of the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors and serves on the Executive Committee and the Marketing (Standing) Committee of the Board
• Association of Arbitrators
• Institute of South African Property Practitioners

He successfully completed the post-graduate programmes in:

• Advanced Management, offered by the Graduate School of Business Leadership, University of South Africa (UNISA) in 1989 / 1990
• Executive Management for Growing Organisations (EPGO) at Stanford University in the United States of America in 1994

Solly Preller has:

• participated extensively in the management and administration of the quantity surveying profession at all levels, local, provincial and national
• contributed to tertiary professional/academic development through his appointments as external examiner of M Sc (QS) dissertations and Ph D theses at the Universities of Pretoria and the Orange Free State

In 1978, Solly married Marile, and they have one daughter, Claudi-Mari

Solly Prller was born in Welkom in the Free State, where he attended the Hoërskool Gimnasium.

He is a graduate of the University of the Orange Free State, where he was awarded the degree of:
 Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying B Sc (QS) in 1978
Master of Science in Quantity Surveying M Sc (QS) in 1988
Doctor of Philosophy Ph D in 1993

In 1990. he was nominated by the Welkom Publicity Association as a finalist for the Achiever of the Year Award
