MEET THE PAST-PRESIDENT OF THE ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH AFRICAN QUANTITY SURVEYORS 2005/2006
Patrick was born in Port Elizabeth in 1956 where he matriculated at Pearson High School. He completed a B. Building degree in 1978 and a B.Sc (QS) degree in 1980, both at the University of Port Elizabeth. He also obtained a Hons. B. (B & A) in 1988 and was awarded a MBA at the University of Stellenbosch in 1992. In this time he also completed a diploma in property valuation and is a registered Valuer.
His involvement with the Association spans some 8 years and includes 4 terms as Chairman of the Western Cape Chapter of the ASAQS and 4 years at the Board where he has served on Exco and various committees.
He started his career in 1981 in Grahamstown and moved to Cape Town in 1984 where he has since been a partner in the practice of Waterson & Hoosain cc.
He is married to Annelie, a psychologist and have two childen, Riek (18) currently in matric at Paul Roos Gymnasium and Lisa (21) in her final year Drama at Stellenbosch University. His hobbies are varied and includes, hunting, 4 x 4 trips into Africa, skydiving with his son, touring the country on his Harley Davidson and sailing. He is currently planning to skipper his yacht (Shandy) in January 2006 in the Cape to Salvadore race.
