At a meeting held on 28-29 March 2007, the Board of the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS) appointed Mr Thembi Matunda as President of the ASAQS
Mr Matunda matriculated at Thambekile High School, Lady Frere and obtained the degree BSc(QS) at the University of Cape Town. He has been practising as a registered quantity surveyor and member of the ASAQS since 1995 and has served on-, or acted as:
- Shareholder of Barox Projects
- Member of the Provincial Tender Board
- Former Chairman of South African Black Technical and Allied Careers Organisation (EC)
- Past lecturer at the University of Port Elizabeth
- Past Chairman of SAPOA (Port Elizabeth Region)
- Member of Vista University Council
- Former Trustee for Zwide Community Trust
- Prepared Procurement Policies for Nelson Mandela Metro and Cacadu District Municipality
His practice experience includes a wide variety of services such as the provision of a casino retail complex, a medical school, mine, broadcasting facilities, airport, the schools building programme of R1,456bn, etc.
Thembinkosi Matunda is a director of Bham Tayob Khan Matunda Inc (Port Elizabeth) Quantity Surveyors & Construction Cost Consultants and in charge of the Port Elizabeth, East London and Umtata offices.
On 29 March 2006 he followed up Prof Brümmer as National President of the ASAQS.
Thembi is married, loves watching sports and getting involved in his community.
