Course Overview:

This Webinar will introduce the ASAQS, GBCSA and UP's study into the cost and trends of green building in South Africa. It will address the motivation for the study as well as the nature and extent thereof. Delegates will also be taken through the detail of the green building cost enquiry document. The results will then be unpacked and explained in terms of the green design penetration, the green building cost premium and the allocation of green building cost to the different categories of the Green Star tool. The webinar will refer to green building cost drivers and how to manage green building cost. The presenter will also share some interesting facets of green building in South Africa that are being studied such as green building design strategies and green building participation trends. The programme will include time for questions and answers.

Course presenter:

Danie Hoffman is a Registered Professional Quantity Surveyor, a member of the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He is currently serving on the Board of the ASAQS and is a member of the Edutech committee. Danie is the programme leader for Quantity Surveying at the Department of Construction Economics of the University of Pretoria. He holds a MSc QS and MBA and is currently completing a PhD on green building cost. Danie has published more than 30 peer reviewed journal articles and peer reviewed conference papers.
