Dear Members,

The association is proud to announce, that for the first time in many years we have received far more General Board Member Nominations than the amount of positions vacant on the board. We are now compelled to comply with the association By Laws and embark upon the member voting / ballot phase of the election process.

The election process will be run in terms of clause 9.0 & 10.0 of the associations Constitution and 9.0 of the associations By-laws.

  • 13 nominations for the 6 board positions have been received.
  • In compliance to the Bylaws of the association we are now required to conduct a ballot from amongst the following association’s membership categories (PMAQS, MAQS, RETIRED and LIFE)
  • The nomination process for the six available positions will take place on an online voting system platform and members may electronically vote for 6 (SIX) of the 13 nominated members

The ASAQS has adopted an outward looking policy with the objective of positioning the Quantity Surveying profession at the forefront of the construction industry. The men and women who represent our profession at board level should be perceived as dynamic, business-orientated, adaptable, able to accept challenge and capable of sharing a transformed vision of the future of our profession in a country where rapid change is the norm.

Our future Presidents must have the qualities and mindset necessary to accept a role which includes high visibility within the construction industry and amongst policymakers in South Africa. Remember that our President portrays the image of the entire profession.

By the same token, the President and Executive Director will require the full support of a Board which is like-minded, capable and supportive. A combination of desirable skills and attributes is needed to ensure the success of any organisation.

Our Presidents and Board members will need to be:

• Pro-active and dynamic
• Utilise change as a mechanism for growth and opportunity
• Outward looking and innovative
• Business orientated
• Sensitive and non-discriminatory in the workplace

PLEASE NOTE: You will only receive a total of six votes.  Should you select more than this required number, your ballot will be discarded.
