The South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession is in the process of amending the Code of Professional Conduct in an attempt to cement the utmost protection of the Quantity Surveying Profession and the general public.

The Council requires the assistance of the profession, stakeholders and members with the amendments to the Professional Code of Conduct.

The link above is the current Code of Conduct we encourage members and stakeholders to peruse the Code of Professional Conduct and forward all suggestions and comments to Disciplinary@sacqsp.co.za

You may also want to compare our code of conduct to the code adopted by the engineers.

There are subtle differences.

The Code of Professional Conduct for Registered Quantity Surveyors places the control of the business entity under the control of a registered person by stating: " A quantity surveying practice shall be controlled by two-thirds registered Professional Quantity Surveyors in terms of number, shareholding directorship and voting power whereas the Code for Registered Engineers seems to be silent on how the business entity is controlled as long as the work is carried out by a registered person.

Which is the better solution? Have your say by writing to Disciplinary@sacqsp.co.za
