In his latest newsletter the Registrar of the SACQSP writes:
"We thank all those that heeded our call to comply to the 5-Year CPD submission deadline by the end of January 2013. The rate of compliance has jumped dramatically to just under 60% with 2-weeks still to go to the set deadline. This is not good enough as the other Built Environment Professions far exceed this compliance requirement per the Act. Quantity Surveyors are pivotal to the construction team and should lead by example and not known to bury their heads in the sand. The Council, together with the ASAQS will endeavour to assist you further to become compliant.
In this light, the Council has agreed to extend the 5-Year CPD submission deadline to 31st March 2013. There will be no excuse for non-compliance thereafter."
His previous newsletters contained two errors in the tutorial on CPD submission on the SACQSP website;
  • Expiry date for Category 1 and Category 2 items undertaken in 2012 are to have an expiry date 12-months later than the event undertaken
  • Expiry date for your 5-Year journal entries are to be 31st March 2013
If you are still in need of more assistance, the university students who are trained to guide you as SACQSP accredited CPD Advisers are only available for the next 3-weeks before they return to university. See contact details in SACQSP Newsletter 36.
If you only registered as a PrQS after January 2008, your 5-Year cycle ends at a later date. However, everyone is still obliged to submit on-line annual CPD data to receive a Letter of Good Standing
