While the first of our usual WCPDF newsletters for 2022 will soon be on its way to you, this is a special notice to inform all industry members of Executive Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews's invitation to the development community to attend a “Developers’ Engagement” on Wednesday 16 February.
This will be held from 10h00 until 12h00, in the Council Chambers, 6th Floor, Podium Block, at the Civic Centre (12 Hertzog Boulevard). Please note that anyone wishing to attend must RSVP to Jolene Abrahams (Jolene.Abrahams@capetown.gov.za) by 9 February.
A preliminary programme is set out below, and we really urge industry members
to attend. Certainly ̶ as the WCPDF and on behalf of our members ̶ we have often asked for engagements of this nature: here is one and we should support it.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis has already reached out to the industry, and
anyone who heard him on Cape Talk’s Refile Moloto recently knows that he wants to get the City back on track. Our attendance at this engagement (which he is also addressing as the keynote), is an opportunity
to both show him our support, but also to bring our challenges to the table once again.
The programme is currently as follows:
Opening, welcome and purpose of the meeting: Executive Deputy Mayor, Ald Eddie Andrews
Development Application Facilitation: Emil Schnackenberg & Pieter Terblanche
Regulatory Reform Process: Jaco van der Westhuizen
Water, Waste and Treatment Plan Capacity: Speaker TBC
Decarbonisation (Topic TBC): Executive Deputy Mayor, Ald Eddie Andrews
Questions/discussion, the way forward and closure to be facilitated by Executive Deputy Mayor, Ald Eddie Andrews
We urge the development community to make full use of this opportunity, and look forward to seeing you there on Wednesday 16 February. Please remember to RSVP (as above).
