To promote student research, the ASAQS has created a facility for research questionnaires to be posted on our website for members to access and respond to on a voluntary basis.
Research questionnaires are released according to the following guidelines:
- Students must be studying quantity surveying
- Students must be members of the ASAQS
- In compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI) the ASAQS will not permit any requests for direct access to its member records and database.
- Undergraduate students can only post their research questionnaires online. Online surveys may be done on Survey Monkey or on suitable survey-platforms provided by the universities
- Masters and PhD students in quantity surveying may, after posting their research questionnaires online and not obtaining the required results, request that an e-mail be sent to a specific target group.
- Each request will be evaluated on its merits
- An academic research request must be made in writing to the ASAQS for their due consideration. The request must include the following:
a. The research title
b. The purpose of the research – in not more than 35 words
c. The target population
d. A survey link
e. The closing date for completion of the questionnaire
f. Proof of ethical clearance
g. Degree being studied
h. Name of academic
institution where studying
i. Name of research supervisor
j. Acknowledgement that all data collected will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and anonymity

Note:
The ASAQS reserves the right to accept or reject any request. If rejected, the reasons for doing so will be communicated to the applicant.
A summary of the research findings is to be provided to the ASAQS.
Such information will be treated in accordance with the laws governing intellectual property.
Should the ASAQS wish to use any data or results taken from the research, they will request permission to do so from the relevant
academic institution.
