Empowering Future Quantity Surveyors: Insights and Opportunities at the ASAQS WITS Student Chapter Launch 2024
On Friday, 15th March, ASAQS's Stakeholder Relations Manager, Christine Mutanda, had the honour of delivering the keynote address at the launch of the ASAQS WITS student chapter for 2024. It provided a wonderful opportunity to engage with aspiring quantity surveyors, offering them a glimpse into their future profession and the construction industry at large. Christine shared insights into the Association's advocacy and work, encouraging student membership at no charge. She highlighted the wealth of resources available on our website, including the esteemed CPD programme recognised globally. A discussion on the economic landscape's impact on the sector, paths to registration, and our international partnerships for those eyeing careers overseas was also included. Furthermore, Christine shed light on alternative career opportunities within quantity surveying, underscoring the versatile skill set it offers. She urged students to stay informed about industry trends and the construction market. Sharing knowledge and highlighting the role of ASAQS as a vital link to employment within the construction realm proved immensely gratifying.
